adds HD channels
San Antonio-based AT&T Inc. has expanded its Homezone video service to include 30 national high-definition channels and more high-definition local channels that vary from market to market.
Homezone, launched last summer, combines Dish Network satellite TV service with Web-based features such as digital music and video on demand. It's available in 13 states, including Texas.
Through the end of the month, new Homezone customers can receive its high-definition channels free for a year. After that, the price of the HD package rises to $20 a month.
AT&T introduced high-definition channels last year for U-verse, its cable-like video service that operates over Internet lines.
Beaumont widow sues
maker of diabetes drug
The widow and son of a Beaumont man are suing the maker of the diabetes drug Avandia, alleging it contributed to the man's death from a heart attack.
Larry Alan Stanford, 60, died May 21, the same day an analysis published in the New England Journal of Medicine said Avandia was linked to a greater risk of heart attack and possibly death.
Peggie Stanford and her son, Ryan Stanford, filed the lawsuit against GlaxoSmithKline on Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Stanford had taken Avandamet, a form of Avandia, since early 2005.
A spokeswoman for GlaxoSmithKline said the company will "vigorously defend our medicine."
